Default Congratulations Dad, it's a Laguna!

Thursday evening at 6PM I was deliverd a healthy, big, bouncing baby Laguna bandsaw! She is a 14' model, weighs in at 230 lbs and has all her fingers, toes and 'teeth'!

The crate was deposited in my driveway and I stood looking at it, wondering how I was going to get the 350 lb crate into my basement, before night fell or snow started to fall again, and being disabled knowing I couldn't do it myself. I called a local trucking /delivery firm and the lady said that her husband would fix me up right after he finishes his day job, after 9PM. He and she arrive at 9:15 and proceed to uncrate the saw in the yard under lights, and had it nestled in my basement in jig time!

He says to me:'You could probably use a hand setting this up' and proceeds to assemble the stand, install the table and fence and set the whole saw upright fully assembled. His day job is at a local hardwear store, and I chat with him there once in a while, and I didn't realize he had a trucking business too. Turns out he and she are also woodworkers, so we spend the next hour talking shop, carving and ship modelling.

Finally at about 11:30 they take their leave with the agreement that I'll teach him carving and model ship building here and he'll teach me cabinetry at his place. What a super evening, I get my new bandsaw delivered and make a new friend to boot! Now if I could only get an electrician in to run a 220 line for the saw I'll be able to make lots of sawdust!

Though you might get a kick out of that!

Easter

Bob

When I originally got my grizzly band saw I decided to move it myself to the basement, I didn't want to wait for anyone to help me because I wanted to get it going right away (1st mistake) It too, was around 250lbs, I had no problem getting it into the house, so I put it on the stairs to get it down to the basement, being hard headed I got on the side of and started getting it down, then it went down by it self, smacked right into a guitar ( good thing it was a cheapo) at the bottem of the basement. Good thing it was a heavy duty bandsaw and nothing happened to it, and also that the guitar, was there to stop the bandsaw, the guitar even played it's last tune at the same time. :

That bandsaw sounds great....and new friends to boot. doesn't get much better than that!

Ain't stairs to the basement just the most fun?

I got tired of dropping things down there and bought one of those big rubber tired hand trucks, and now things go up and down a heck of a lot better, and a lot less 'messy'!

I'm lucky as I just go from the carport right into the celler. No steps. But I know it's hard getting things back up the steps. Guess when the house is sold the heavier woodworking tools stay put. LOL. Jim

Howdy,

After moving all of my shop equipment 'down the stairs' over a period of years, including table saw, radial arm saw, planer, jointer, drill presses, etc, etc., my wife came up wih the perfect solution when our retirement move came up. 'CALL THE MOVING COMPANY, I'M NOT HELPING!' I'm sure we paid for their help, but it sure did save our backs. Had them place everything at our new house. I done all the breaking down and setting up, didn't trust them with that part.

I just recently got my Grizzly 17', what a treat that was taking it down into the basement, and now Im starting to have a studio built onto the garage, so it would havwe to come back out. I was thinking that part of the bid for the addition should be to move it upstairs fo me what a monster.
