| I have received a couple of message over the past week or so concerning Woodcarving Seminars here in the Ozark Mountains. So, I am writing this thread to try and clear things up a little. We have had the Silver Dollar City seminar each spring since 1996 and a lot of folks are familiar with it. This past spring, shortly after the Seminar, Silver Dollar City announced that they would not be hosting a seminar in 2011. Although attendance has dropped over the past few years there were still about 200 attendees and its demise left quite a gap. Up until a few years ago there had been a two week seminar, held in June, at War Eagle Creek near Rogers, Arkansas. In or near the Ozarks there are also several other Seminars (Rendezvous and Rendezvous II near Branson, Missouri and Wildlife in Wood Seminar near Miami, Oklahoma; among others). With the end of the SDC Seminar, Steve Brown teamed up with the Hide A Way Campground owners on War Eagle Creek and put together a new War Eagle Seminar (which has been written about on WCI) to be held in September 2010. Shortly after this John Engler and Loren Woodard put together a successor to the SDC Seminar to be held in Springfield, Missouri in the spring of 2011. Instructors from SDC are teaching at both of these new efforts and I suspect has led to some confusion. I have received messages asking if the War Eagle Seminar has been cancelled or has been amalgamated into the Ozarks Woodcarving Seminar. I think this confusion might have been increased with the information I received a few days ago that one of the War Eagle classes had been cancelled due to no one having signed up for it (I do not know which one but it still leaves 12 classes on the schedule). So the War Eagle Seminar is still on for September 13-17, 2010. Information may be found in the “Off Topic” area under the thread “The New War Eagle Seminars” and Ozarks Woodcarving Seminar for March 28-April 1, 2011 with information available at www.ozarkswoodcarvingseminar.com Hope this helps clear things up a bit…….. |

Paul thanks for the post. You are right on. Carvers get a little ancy when it gets close to seminar time. To the best of my knowledge both seminars are up and going strong. Anyone with a question can call Steve Brown for the War Eagle one at 270-821-8774 web site http://sbrownwoodcarving.com/ or John Engler for the Springdield MO one at 417-209-6842 or Loven Woodard 573-374-6603 web site Ozarks Woodcarving Seminar You can look on the left side of this page http://www.ozarkswoodcarvingseminar.com/ to see that they have almost 90 signed up here. Some classes are almost full. Charlie Wolfe
