Default Confederate Soldiers

I while ago I posted the little Yankee in this photo. I have since then fixed up his beard and carved another little Confederate Soldier to complete the set. The mustaches are somewhat exaggerated giving them a more of a caricature look. These were two pieces of birch (less than a foot) I had laying around so I thought I'd give them a try. The Yankee looks more golden as he has had several coats of oil while the other just had one so far. Thanks for looking.
Patrick

Thanks everyone. Someone suggested I start a series of these little guys - perhaps make them a collectors set. I typically do my carvings on inspiration so I'll park that idea for a time.
Feb, the birch I use is raw (right from the log) as I do with many of my carvings. Not sure if the white or yellow is the harder of the two types. I find it similar to basswood logs. I am yet to carve a block of professionally dried wood so I don't know what I'm missing.

Hi Patrick,

Seems like you could make a great chess or checkers set using these guys!
