karen, thanks :-) dont be hard on you,. this is only your second carving, and it is wonderful... as to the proportions, and facial expression, it really helps if you try drawing them first. the drawing maybe very messy, but only concentrate what you want see. draw over the lines so long until you see what you want. then trace it on a clean paper...you will notice, that this drawing makes you much more aware of the proportions you want, you kind of learn them by heart by this drawing, and then you can carve them easier. same with expression...

Karen,

Very beautiful carving, I love the downward angle of your eyes, captures the whole facial expression movement. Great Job, keep carving...Bill

Thumbs up Re: Completed my 2nd Carved cypress knee

Karen .. I think you did a terrific job on the face .. I really like that type of facial strokes .. sort of a cross between a caricature and realistic face ..

Good job ..

Gene

Karen...I think it's all been said, but I'll add my 2 cents...I, too, love the stylized approach to this cypress knee....it's different....and it draws your attention. The smoothness you've achieved is really beautiful, along with the finish. Great work! Bonnie

Hi Karen. Sometimes you don't end up with what you had in mind, but that doesn't make it any less a piece of ART. This is one of those times for you. Your piece of ART is Beautiful. Keep it up. Merle
