Thumbs up Colin's Carving

Hi everyone,

Last weekend as I was driving up to central Ontario I found myself in the town of Thornton, Colin Partridges hometown. I was trying to avoid the traffic in Barrie due to the Live 8 concert. The kids were getting restless in the backseat so I made a turn in Thornton to try and find a coffee shop. I realized I had made a wrong turn, so as I'm making a U-turn to get back on course, I look up at one of Colin's woodspirits staring at me!

Colin, I'm not sure if you know the one I'm talking about. It's a couple of blocks over from hwy. 27, beside a gravel path. Anyway, the pictures don't do these things justice. What a beautiful BIG carving. I don't know when it was done but the finish looks like it wasn't too long ago. What a great piece of work!

My only regret is that the camera was packed away somewhere in the trunk.

Chris.

Chris,
Yes that was a carving I donated to the Trans Canada Trail I actually donated two there is another one right across the road from Tim Hortons in Cookstown. They are big carvings athough I have done bigger that is probably one of the biggest cedar carvings I have done. I am really busy right now with commissions should slow down in about another year or two and I will take some pictures of those carvings and post them. Cant believe you were in Thornton and didnt look me up, I mean there are only about 400 people in Thornton I am not that hard to find. Next time stop in and we can talk carving.
Colin

Sorry Colin, I didn't realize we were passing through Thornton until we were there. We may be going back up in August sometime so I'll let you know.

I think that's great that you donated those carvings. What a neat thing to see on the trail.

Do you keep track of where all of your carvings are?

Funny you should ask I try to but it doesnt always work. I recieved a call from a lady who's daugher and her husband has seen a huge carving of mine on an island in the south pacific. She knew it was mine because it was signed by me and was dated 2000. I have no idea how it got there and who owns it I tried to call her back but got a wrong number so I still dont know what carving it is. I also recieved a call from a lady in Russia that has one of my carvings again I dont know how it got there or who sold it to her but it wasent me. As I said I try to keep up with where they go but I sell so many I dont always ask where they are going or who who the customer is.
