Question Clear plastic mailing tubes.

I put this general carving because it can cover many topics. After the new year, I walked by the mail stops in the office and ran across several calenders no one picked up. So I talked to Admin and she said this folks no longer work for the company so throw them away. I saved 2 of the tubes the looked like the would come in handy. Well they are great for packing knives , sandpaper and small pieces. Keep on in my computer bags with a complete set. So can carve when I have free time. I use other for my twisted Spoon. Seen my gallery. It is real delicate, it flexes if you gently squeeze it. I do not want that to break.
Now My question is where can buy a few of these? On the 'Net I can only find cases of the them. Staples only has the paper kind.I want to clear so you see what is in it.

I can always wait until next year to see if that company send the calendar again!

Oh, I am trying figure out what would be the best material to put in the bottom of the tubes. If I "drop" my detail knife it in, it goes the soft vinyl caps. cardboard, cork, Plywood?

How about a dry piece of kitchen sponge about 1/2 inch thick, held in place by cutting the sponge just slightly larger than the tube. (Put an end of the tube on the dry sponge, draw around it, then cut along the line- compressing slightly when inserted should hold in place.)

Never thought of that. My brain was on the work bench I guess. The sponge will not dull the point!
Thanks!

Try your local Home Depot. They usually have some, but they are not very long. They may have other sizes now though.
