Hi all. What is the best way to clean wood from metal files?

Thanks Joaz

I usually rub some chalk on them before I use them on wood. A file card (a wire brush made specifically to clean out files) works well, as will a small brass brush.

I've heard of people using a propane torch to clean off carbide bits, but I'm not sure if the torch will get hot enough to remove the hardness from the file. Oven cleaner may also work...

A file card removes metal from a file so wood should be a piece of cake and they aren't very costly.
