Hi all. What is the best way to clean wood from metal files? Thanks Joaz www.maine-web.com/woodturning |

I usually rub some chalk on them before I use them on wood. A file card (a wire brush made specifically to clean out files) works well, as will a small brass brush. I've heard of people using a propane torch to clean off carbide bits, but I'm not sure if the torch will get hot enough to remove the hardness from the file. Oven cleaner may also work... Bob |

A file card removes metal from a file so wood should be a piece of cake and they aren't very costly.
