Default Class to support Hurricane Katrina.

I have been trying to come up with a fund raiser for Katrina relief.
Heres my Idea.
Anna and I would like to volunteer to teach a Santa Carving class. I will donate basswood roughouts or bandsawed blanks what ever anybody would want to start from. I have taught Santa carving to beginners in an 8 hour class and so far no one has left the class without finishing their Santa. Anna will also bring her painting tricks along. With a lot of us already carving it would be an opertunity to learn from each other as well as teach beginners. If you have never carved in the round it would be a good chance to try it. The picture is from what I call my student blank.

I talked to Bob D and the facilities at WCI near Lancaster PA.would welcome us to hold the class there. Even heard rumors of coffee and donuts! The good people at WCI are swamped with work and we will have to organize this on our own.

I think the best way to raise some funds would be if you enjoy the class make a donation. What ever we raise 100% will go to the effort as well as the company I work for will match the funds dollar for dollar.

I guess the first question is how many people would be interested? Then we could move onto when.

What do ya all say. Lets do It!!!

Well if its only gonna be two people then we may as well have a class at my shop. It would be a lot closer for you guys then to run up to Pa. Lets give it another week to see if anyone else is interested.

Goody,

I am having a bit of trouble with the student Santa. I know my 2 weeks are almost up , but this door is being a pain on him. But I will get it even if I have to glue it.

I am going to get a class together at my shop. I will let everyone know when it will be soon. Got to get a hold of everyone that has been asking me to start teaching again.
