Default Cherry Tree Carving #2

Hi gang,
Yesteday I was in Toronto again in the park to do another Cherry Tree Carving
This one was much better as the tree was pretty much all in one piece. Beautiful wood to carve and the colors were magnificent. The sap wood is a deep almond color and the heart wood is a beautiful shade of burgundy. I have included some pictures so you can see how I transitioned the sap wood into the hard wood. The carving is pretty much finished except for staining it. Size wise it is about four feet high and probably less than a foot diameter.

That is really nice. To bad you have to stain it. Love the color of the wood and how the dark outer marks rings the face. Looks great

Geez Colin, you're going to have half the trees in TO carved! Great job, I love the colours. I bet you'll be getting a lot of feedback on those soon! Smile

Colin,
Nice change in the spirit on this one. Well done. I need to plan a holiday. This is going to be some park.

The color change due to depth is incredible. What color will you stain it? Have you thought about adding food colors to a clear finish like the polycrylics, and adding a few highlights? This is not intended as criticism, but a suggestion to alternative stain finishes. Your work continues to amaze me.

Found wood I have not heard of that method of staining but it sure has my interest peeked. I have already stained the cherry tree's a golden colour they really look good I will take some pictures next time I go down to carve. Hey not to worry about critcism that is how I learn I dont take anything personally I just thank everyone for their interest.
