Default Cherry Owl

This owl in cherry is not meant to be a representation of an actual owl just like my eagles or bears and gators that can stand up and look you in the eye aren’t. I only bring this up to let well intentioned members that may want to send me links of real owls. Here is the lesson for new carvers that struggle with perfect anatomically correct carvings, you may not need to. I am not saying that carvers that have mastered realism have wasted time or carvers that want to become masters at that style. I am saying it is OK to put “your own stank on it”. I carved most of it with an electric chainsaw and finished it with gouges and V tools and left all tool marks.

Don
I think he looks great. Who cares if a feather is a little ruffeled, you carved him the way you saw him.

Don't give a hoot if it's anatomically correct. Super nice owl!

That's a great looking owl, Don. I like the simple design, and that you carved the owl and the base from a single block.

It looks like an owl to me! I like it a lot.
Putting your own "stank on it", good advice and I like your attitude! I get to hung up on trying to make everything look to perfect and don't finish much of anything. I guess just do and get it done and go on.
Thanks Don!

Don,you showed your great ability of being able to carve a large owl
out of a large block of timber and have it look like an owl is great. Thanks sharing a project well done.
