| | Re: charlotte woodcarvers website I've been planning on coming down. What is the best day to make it ,if you can only make it for 1 day ? I hope to make it down, because this about all the free time I have for this year. Not complaining, just stating.
Thanks,

| | Re: charlotte woodcarvers website I think Saturday was the best day for me. All of the vendors were set up, they had competitions, and the show was great on that day. What do you think everyone????

| | Re: charlotte woodcarvers website There definitely is more going on on Saturday. The only frustrating about Saturday morning is the area where the carvings are kept is closed during judging. However - the vendor area is open and there will be a few seminars.
Sunday is slower (or at least seems to be), BUT if you are in the raffle, you want to be there to get your "winnings".
The carving contests in the afternoon are fun to participate in and seem to draw a big spectator crowd. Tom Wolfe sponsors this event and there are great prizes. |

| | Re: charlotte woodcarvers website I am planning on being at the show, but if I have anything to compete with done that is the question.I had 2 weeks with the worst case of the flu I have had and at this time I am in Illinois(and by the way it was +3 degrees this morning)as my wifes brother was killed in a automobile accident friday evening. So I will be their for the show and the whittling contest,b ut unless I get 2 full days on the 2 projects I have started I won't compete. My New Years resolution was to only compete with my original designs this year,no rough-outs,so if I don't get anything done I don't compete. |

| | Re: charlotte woodcarvers website Don't worry Mark, I don't have much either. Too busy with our club activities, teaching (well, sort of), and our new addition to the family (dog) to get any real carving done.
I do have a couple of items left over from CCA that I can use, and I did finish a relief (can you believe it?) carving that will go.
No real caricatures except for a rough out that was in the Hickory show.
I talked to Allen yesterday and he was busy carving "something", but had the same complaint (nothing ready to go).
I may try to get ONE done, but don't really know if I can get it done in time.....maybe if I skip painting....
I bet Bart's been busy - he's been too quiet lately, so he MUST be carving!
I do have two students that will be entering some items. One has entered one show (Hickory) and this will be the first for the other. I never realized what fun it would be to work with beginners. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
