Default Charlotte, NC Woodcarving Show

I had the privilege of meeting two of the message board members today at the Charlotte, NC Woodcarving show. Assuming that I can perform the miracle of posting a photo, they are left to right: Mitchell Cartledge (message board name -Mitchell, a moderator) and Bart Wilson (message board name Wood-Whittler). I am on the right -Jerry Korte. Bart and Mitchell each had several carvings entered. I would love to take a few lessons from them.

Jerry -- Thank You. I just love having photos of the people I "know" on the 'net. I save them in a very special folder.

It was a pleasure to meet Jerry - and to see some old friends - Bart in particular. I really look forward to this show (and others) because I have met many people that have become dear friends. I enjoy the show more because I do have the opportunity to visit with them - and that is more important to me than actually havng my carvings on display or in competition. I originally met Bart at the Charlotte show about 10 years ago.

We did have a good time!

I can't figure out why we all have our hands in our pockets - ?????? Is this a normal stance for carvers?

i also enjoyed meeting jerry and his wife this past weekend they are very fine people. i to enjoy this show also for the same reasons as mitch it used to be we all went to compete and we still do but i feel that we have gotten to the point where we had rather just see our freinds. we started going to this show 10 or 11 years ago and have met some really good freinds the first person i met was a knifemaker named lanny mitchell if you never had the pleasure of knowing lanny you we really missed out. we lost lanny last year to a heart attack and miss him so much. we all banded together because of him and still remain close because of him. if you have a show in your area get involved you wont be disappointed. you will make friends that you will get to be good friends with i did and i wouldnt trade it for the world.

wood-whittler

p.s
we still compete very hard aginst each other and it is good cause we are always trying to come up with new stuff.
