| | chaboinkens 4th project. I thought I would try another colour for the eyes this time,I had to paint them 4or 5 times befor I was mostley satisfied,MAN it must take alot of practice,I have time.I thought it would be neat to make him into a statue, another piece of cedar, about 14 inches by 5.Is oil base paint good to use,and is semi gloss ok for the eyes? chaboinken lennie. |

| | Re: chaboinkens 4th project. Great looking carving. You're on the right track. I find that the more carvings I do the better I get. It's taken 3 years to get to where I'm happy with the way I am painting.
I use strictly acrylic paint for all of my carvings. I simply don't like to have to use thinner to clean up when I'm done. Another hint is to use a hairdryer to dry the eyes in between colors, much faster. Just don't get carried away with the heat, it'll also take paint off if you get it too hot.
