Fly...am running out of adjectives & plaudits. Not sure what I admire most, your talent, or the fun, whimsical nature of your carvings. Thanks for sharing.

All this miniature carving you are doing is simply amazing.
You do have one big advantage with this small carving, too.
You don't have much mess to clean up! (LOL)

Fly Fisher, you deserve your own TV show. or at the least, a few feature articles. if only there were a publication somewhere in the world that Illustrated the Carving of Wood and the like ...

but seriously, have you contacted Woodcarving Illustrated about putting your work before a lager audience ?

Thanks Luscher and Zebra but I dont think my work is good enough for something like that. Maybe one it will be when Ive had a some more practice at it because I've only been carving this small for about a week. Before joining this forum I had only carved chains and ball stuff, I didn't even know i could carve a hand untill last week thats why im trying everything its not to show off its to find out what else i can do.. Does that make sense?

admirable humility aside, we're talking about a magazine which lives to sell copies (or dies from not doing so). based on the comments on this board, you have something to offer them which people will want to see

how long you've been doing something does not detract from the quality, or desirability as publication material or works of art

this is unbelievably common in all branches of art : ''i knew how to handle a brush pretty well, and have painted many landscapes, but i didn't know i could paint flowers too !''

more often than not, if you know all the fundamentals of the craft you can create just about anything -- within the limits of the medium, materials and tools, of course. this is part of why (IMO) people need to be deterred from 'learning' shortcuts, like the oft repeated ''how do you paint hair?'' ''well, the same way you paint anything else : color, value, highlights, proportions'' in other words, you employ the fundamentals if the craft. this is good for people to learn by example (via your work, in this case) as it will save them lots of time, and will help them develop their craft faster

don't sell yourself short. think about it at least. if the publisher is sharp, you will receive a private message about this at some point in the future
