Default What is causing you the wood carving blues?

Some one should write a song called the wood carvers blues

Working too hard (tough economy), family responsibilities and all the other things that take up my time. These are causing me the wood carving blues. My wife thinks I have carving on the brain. Ya, so, I wish had more time to do carving. I always think I well tomorrow , ya, right. I have the stuff, just need the time. What is causing you the wood carving blues?

With me its seasonal. Dark o'clock from 15.30 through till 8.30 hrs in mid winter. We go off to Cyprus in winter and the blues are left behind. Just my take on it.

I think we all get wrapped up in life an causes us to put the fun stuff on the back burner so to speek... but sometimes we need the hobby to bring us to a calmer place so we can cope with the norm... dont look for time MAKE TIME.. Allen Goodman once siad theres no better stress realiver than to simply cut wood with a knife an i have to agree.. think of it as homework...u get it dont b4 other stuff is started.. id say got to ur shop right now find some wood and start hacking

Shoulder injury! Can't carve very long. about an hour and I am done for a couple of days. Don't mend like I did when I was young!

Orders! They keep me from carving what I want to carve. but on the other hand I am thankful for them.
Kenny,
3200mg of Ibuprofin a day gets me thru. if it gets any worse than that A percocet and a budwiser usually does it.

Life in general, worrying about the latest auto recall, stress at work, family, etc. I need a vacation!

Wow, it looks like a lot of us are in the same boat. I think a lot of us also think the same. I just had the weekend off but was only able to work about an hour on my carvings, ugh. But spring is around the corner and the chips should start flying at full steam.
Thanks for your replies,
Bob

I don't have the blues about carving other than I can hardly wait until someday we have a nice warm shop or shed to work in! I kind of got the blues over the finances and the stress of that and trying to stay strong and positve for my husband(who is kind of down right now).

Imagine Delta blues legend, John Lee Hooker singing...

Woke up this mornin' and the rain was pourin' down

I go to work hopin' that big boss man would just leave town

Ive been workin' hard, everyday of my life, aint got no money or big
fine car

My babys waitin' at home,to hold her with my rough calloused hands

She's my friend,all I got...the reason I live-my faithful woodcarvin' knife.

*Im gonna stick to carvin',since poetry and song writin' aint my thing, lol.
Hoping everyone shakes them mean ole "carvin' blues" !
