I am carving a cedar log and trying to put small characters on it. So cracks are a big deal since they might take heads/arms/legs... off. This weekend I am going to rough out all the figures . then go thru the next month putting details on the figures. How do I keep it from cracking after I get it roughed out and before I get it detailed? lacquer, poly, danish oil,...the entire piece? And then after I finish each figure, how do I reduce the cracking in that figure? Its about 5 ft long log and there are 5 horses and 4 riders. so there is a lot of little detail. I will send pixs after this weekend. |
