Default Carving a Pierced Relief

This pattern was in MCI Spring issue by Chris Pye. I thought it would be a fun project to try. Turned out ,it was. Size was 11''x7''. from Basswood, Teak Oil, Watco Dark Wax. Since my Daughter has a pond with Koi Fish I thought she might like it. It's gone already. lol. The one picture is without a background. The second is with a suggestion of a background with stained Glass. The Daughter does Stain Glass work as a hobby so that will be her job to cut the glass and mount it on the back. I like the Blue cause it suggests water. Hope it doesn't give it a cheap look. Merle

Wow, that is some nice work. And I think the blue background really sets it off. You did a a great job on a real eye catching piece.

Looks great Merle. I think the glass really makes the piece pop. Well done.

Very nice Merle, seems like a lot of carvers like that peice and you've done a great job on it. I'd go with the blue background.

MA, burning and carving is not the same as playing with matches and knives.

Nice work Merle, In my humble view the blue lets the carving speak for itself.

Merle,I almost missed this great fish you carved. I'd seen it in the mag.also. I like how the fish is detailed and hes smooth motion that you created in him!

VERY nice carving Merle plus your finish on him brings him to life just right!
