Default carving pictures as art

My question is has anyone ever considered picures of their carvings as art? I mean to say a picture of a carving that would hang on the wall. I have seen some really neat carvings that I thought would make good pictures. Or how about a calender with pics of carvings for the months? I know other hobbists do that ( model railroaders, model cars builders, mofel airplanes). I have seen some super carvings that even though I may not be able to buy them would certainly like to have a picture of it. In my carving room I have the walls covered with reference pictures, calenders and some woodcarving patterns by Gordon Stiller that I consider art. Just thought I'd throw this out to see what the general concensus is. Not even sure if this belongs here or in another part of the forum

Yes, oldbearx2, there are some beautiful carved objects that can ONLY be enjoyed through photos. For example, the incredible carvings in European cathedrals. The main altarpiece in the Seville, Spain cathedral is probably the largest carved object in the world. And, there's no way anyone will be able to buy it and put it in their home.

I have thought the same thing I have images of Greenman faces all over my house. The ones from Cathedrals and such. Good thinking about the calendar! HEY! Thats a great fundraiser! Wasn't there a man on here awhile back looking for ideas to raise money for his carving museum? That would be really cool. Thanx for the thoughts...and the idea!

Ducks Unlimited used to do a great calendar of duck decoys. I miss that they don't put one out any more.

they sure were, Mark. I'm hoping they bring 'em back this year. I hold on to them for reference photos.
