That was interesting. I like the wine and cheese part. I'll have to send this to my carving club. But, I also noticed that no one wore a glove, and they all seemed to be using one knife. There were not a large array of knives in front of each carver.

The carving was neat, great job on the faces.

Those Opinel knives are pretty tough. I ended up with one in a box lot at an auction a few years ago. I'm gonna have to take another look at it. <grin> The way they were moving those knives around makes me think they just sharpen the first inch or so of the blade and the rest is ground flat?

Definitely some interesting techniques with the long-bladed knife. If I tried some of those moves with my knives, I'd have hamburger on the ends of my fingers...I think Mike has the measure of it...

The wine and cheese are both good ideas, though. Definitely a way to attract new members.

The reason I questioned this is because when watching the video, It seemed like the woman at the start honed her knife and it looked like she was only honing the very end of the blade. Of course, I could be way off base here...It's been known to happen.
