Can't help you much on a power carving tool. But before investing in one for the sole reason of pain while carving, you might want to see if you can alleviate the pain situation. You can have pain from repetitive motion while using any tool. You can also have other problems from power carving, i.e. reaction to the dust, irritation from noise, etc.

Check this link out:

Wrist Problems

It's not a discussion on arm pain but the advice there might help you get rid of the pain and save some money.

I use all types of grinders I don't like using a flex shaft rotary I prefer die grinders. It's probably the way I use them but they wear my arms and hands out. I do have a power tool that is so easy I can use them for 8 hours straight. They are pricey but they work so good and run smooth I can sit in my recliner with the TV on and work on small to medium size carvings. They are not loud and no dust and flexcut makes cutters in every profile. I use two of them when one gets hot I pick the other. I show you a picture of my cool little Automach reciprocating tools next to full size gouges they are serious tools.
