Default carving lap tray

Hi some time ago i saw a lap tray, ideal for carving, with a perspex sheild around the edges and a vacuum cleaner attached to the bottom for dust extraction.
the tray had holes drilled into it and it sat comfortably on the lap.
im pretty sure it was featured on this site, does anyone know where it is?
i have tried the search feature but no joy.
any help greatfully recieved

Hello Kev, I did some serches on the WCI forum to see if I could turn up what you were looking for, but I too was stumped. Could it have been somewhere else?

You could always use the the lap board that frankpsmith posted a link too and modify it to suit your needs. On post I did find was where the individual just cut a hole in the board and attached a plastic bag into which he pushed the chips when they got in his way. Maybe that would work for you? HTH

thanks for the link Frank, though i'm inclined to think i may have seen it somewhere else. The plans i saw used something like this drain hopper (13 x 22 cms), mounted in a slightly larger pine frame and attached to a vacuum cleaner via a reducer pipe

FloPlast Rectangular Hopper and Grid Black, 5055149922879

the plans also added a perspex removable box ( top and 3 sides) that enabled the carver to use a rotary power tool to sand/ carve and all the dust would be sucked through the vent holes and, because of the perspex box none of the dust would escape. enabling the tray to be used comfortably indoors.
may try to knock one up and post th outcome if anyone interested
