And easy and fun one, although not necessarily cheap, is 1) buy a bottle of wine that has a plastic "cork" 2) remove cork, drink wine 3) go to bed 4) next day, use the plastic cork for a sheath. I drilled a series of 16th inch holes in the end, about an inch deep. Claude |

I like Claude's idea, I have lots of knives so I better get several bottles of wine ![]() Dave |

Be aware that Claude said "a plastic cork". I wouldn't recommend doing it with a real (i.e. wood) cork, as the cork tends to hold moisture and you'll likely end up with a rusty blade. I'm a brewer (beer and mead: haven't tried wine yet), so I had a few of those plastic corks, unused, lying around. They're now topping several of my knives.

I've actually used some real cork ones, also. I did, however, use corks that had been sitting in the messy drawer for several months and were totally dry. Haven't noticed any rust anywhere in several years of use.. Claude |

I believe WCI issue 18 had an article and patterns for some knife covers.

| Hey Doc Hamm Thanks 4 the heads-up. I checked out the site you suggested and I like the idea for the knife blade cover(s) What I see as a little differcutly is; the hole has to be filled with clear silicone. After siclicone dries 24 hrs. then the knife is place into the dried silicone to hold the knife in place and covered. I guess after awhile one chops-up the silicone inside the cover. I wonder if a magnet can somehow replace the silicone ![]() Quote:
