Default carving Jack folding knife

Hi everyone, new here (and to carving) and my first post, was just wondering what you think of the carving jack by flex cut? Seems to be a handy knife but would like to get some input from someone who owns or has used one. Thank you- Pedo

I liked mine but I had to modify the main blade and sharpen the other ones better. They make the Blades about 1/64th inch thicker then the fixed blades that I am used to so when you start doing details around the eye's which I have problems with anyways it tends to crush the fibers instead of cutting through them. Over all though I like mine.

It is a little uncomfortable to hold for long periods of time but it sure is a handy thing to have

Pedo,

I think there have been about as many threads on the Carvin' Jack as for any other single wood carving tool out there. The thread that Mitchell put you onto seems to be an exception to the general sentiment regarding the knife. I've had mine for nearly two years now and like Herb, I find it just a tat uncomfortable in a long carving session, but the trade off is more than worth the convenience to me.

It also seems to be a common complaint that the blades tend to be just a bit crowded in the frame, and that the main knife blade has a steeper bevel angle than some folks prefer. Again I find the tool just too handy to let these issues keep me from having it in my pocket everywhere I go. It goes into my right hand pants pocket along with a small tape measure, coinage, and a roll of tums. It doesn't matter if I'm going out to eat or just hanging around the house.

L.P.
