Thanks everyone for all the nice thoughts! It helps to have the right tools...a lot with chainsaw, then lancelot tools ( incredible wood eaters), then gouges and chisels. I just got a Jonsered saw set up for carving with a dime tip (it hasn't arrived yet) which I hope saves me lots of time on the other chair. The wood itself is such an adventure, and it really does carve beautifully with sharp tools! I hate to even say this, but it's the beginning of Hurricane season down here in Florida. Last summer enough live oak ...and banyon and walnut and pecan and everything else...blew down to supply the world with beautiful carving wood. If you had shown up with a saw and a trailer, they would have thanked you profusely for every tree hauled off! There's still quite a bit for the taking, I'm sure. God forbid we get hit this year, but it's Florida and every square inch of Florida has been hit directly by a hurricane in the last 100 years, so PLEASE bring your chainsaw down this year, and your truck and trailer! I promise you'll be seen as heroes! And it's a great place to be between hurricanes! Dave, I sure like that greenman cane! Good work! It's great to see everybody's carvings and take in all the free-flowing insight and wisdom! Thanks to all of you! Wade |

Wade....you are so right. Mother Nature will and does supply us with everything we need and then some....the same sort of thing hit Halifax, NS a couple of years ago, and produced a bumper crop for carvers and furnature makers. I just hope that the tree clearers kept that in mind. They are still clearing up the parks there, and re-planting. Best of luck with the chair and the season! Bob
