Recently bought one of the white kevlar gloves from woodcraft. I've only used it two times and I'm noticing the threads are snagging on rough spots on the carvings I'm holding. This is causing some fraying and pulling some of the threads out on the fingers. The wood I'm carving doesn't seem super rough. All I've used on is a small block of whitewood(spruce?) and butternut. Not sure if to return it, cause the way the mesh seems loose on the gloves I could picture this happening with a replacement. Just wanted to know if this was typical with this type of glove. Tempted to try a fillet glove if keeps happening.

I've had about every kind of carving glove and they all have frayed and fuzzed with repeated use on rough wood. It eases up as you progress with your carving and the wood gets smoother. I've tried about everything to prolong the use of the glove, even when it wears through, but it will happen eventually. (I've used colban-wimp wrap--to wrap fingers on my glove as it starts to fray through in spots. I've also used duct tape, super glue, sewed spots together, etc.--but the wimp wrap will extend the life of the glove the best for me. I'm too tight to pitch the glove when it starts wearing, especially when it's so comfortable because it's molded to my hand by then. Donna_T

Randy those HyFlex gloves look pretty neat - how long have you used them- how do they hold up?

Hi Randy, have you used these for long periods of time (2-3 hours) to know if they let the moisture out well? TNX
