Yingko, I don't know anyone in Florida, but, help and advice is what this board is all about. (Look no further) Well, o.k., if you need more, try subscribing to Wood Carving Illustrated (This is their site) and/or Chip Chats. Both have information on carving shows and seminars that you may be able to attend.
Also, keep searching woodcarving sites on the net. (especially clubs) And you might be able to find a club that you can join.
Keep this site bookmarked and check out all of the carvingworld site.
Hope this helps

GO TO MY FLORIDA.COM

SEARCH FOR WOOD CARVERS GUILDS OR CLUBS.

I DON'T KNOW THE NAMES, BUT WE'RE EVERY WHERE. I BELONG TO THE GULF COAST CARVERS GUILD IN SARASOTA. MEMBERS FROM OTHERS CLUBS JOIN US THROUGH THE YEAR FROM BRADENTON, VENICE, CORAL GABLES, FORT MYERS & NAPLES.

OUR BIGEST SHOW OF THE YEAR IS IN FORT MYERS DURING FEB.

GOOD LUCK ON YOUR HUNT, CUT SOMETHING THAT DOESN'T BLEED!

Try looking for clubs at

http://www.angelfire.com/va2/nvacarvers/guilds.html/
http://www.woodburning.com/clubs.htm

These are the two most comprehensive lists I know of.

Hey Manuel,
The only club activity I saw listed in June's Chip Chats is at New Port Richey on Feb 28. I don't know how close that is to you, but they list a contact at wscott@cusave.com or 727-842-3233. Maybe their members can provide you with some specific info. Ditto on the two lists already mentioned.

I don't know Florida well, but there is a woodcarver there named Bill Cooey you should look up.
I took a class from him years ago, and he is the best story-teller I have ever met. He lives in Milton, Florida. He teaches and has even taken in apprentices. Â*He has carvings in the Smithsonian Institution. Â*Here is a little story about him in Smithsonian magazine.

I lived in CS and carved at several of the Senior Centers. Call around and you will find several groups. I carved at the the Davie SS (I think); I left there 10 yrs ago. Good luck. There is a large show in Ft Myers, in Jan., and many of the east coast carvers were in the show. Good luck
