| Carving the Female Face: How-to Carve Pretty Faces in Wood by Waly Lueth Has anyone got this book, and if you do what do you think of it? I'm having a lot of trouble doing female faces and a browse on Amazon found 2 books that looked interesting, this one and one by Ian Norbury, Carving Classic Female Faces in Wood: A How-To Reference for Carvers and Sculptors. Of the 2 I prefer the look of Walys book but since I have to wait till the money comes in before I buy I thought it best to get some opinions on them first |

I have both Ian's and Waly Lueth's they are both excellent books and if I had to pick one over the other I would go with Ian's, it has more projects and better pictures. Have you tried looking for used books from some place like Half Price Books or Amazon.com? Carl

I too would recommend the Ian Norbury book. It is the better of the two and gives both caucasion and african female models. You will not be disappointed.

I must fall on the side of Ian Norbury as well. He is the best woodcarver/sculptor in my life time in my opinion.

I have the Norbury book and think it is great...haven't seen the other one, so I am biased!

I need to add one other great carver sculptor teacher. The great Nora Hall she is on par with Norbury.
