Default carving faux bark

I have been carving woodspirits on my banjo pegheads for a few month and I'm pretty happy with what I have done. I am now thinking of trying to carve them more rustic with bark. They measure 1"wide x 3" long and about 1/2" thick. Has anyone every tried carving fake bark or simulated bark. It need's to fit a certain area to clear the strings so I just can't stick something on there, it would have to be created. I have attached a couple samples of what I have already done.

Not exactly sure what fake bark is - sorry.
But those are some great looking woodspirits - and on the headboard of a banjo no less. Boy you sure are 'in tune' with your creative side

Really nice! Why not google images of bark or if you have trees take some pictures and try carving from them? That way you have a reference to go by.

Actually I think bark would distract from you carving and the banjo it self. Of coarse I would give it try to see first...some times you can create great stuff from experiments...

As my wife says"You are selling them ...why change?" And you know wives are always right. Thanks for the kind words especially to 3crosses woodcarving and his videos. I have a Wizard banjo in the works right now. It might be corny with a wizard on the peghead. BTW these are gourd banjos, so the gourd is going to be purple with a moon sound hole. Just had to try it
