Default carving exterior rope moldind

I am restoring a 1870's Brownstone that has half round carved rope molding around the windows. I need help in drawing the layout, and advice on the best way to carve these peices. any help or drawings would be very welcomed.

Look at this web site it list a # of wood carvers who do rope moldings. They all have email addresses so you could contact them and see what they can do.

There are some good books about carving architectural details. Dick Onians, Frederick Wilbur, Chris Pye show several techniques. There are several offered by Fox Chapel Publishing, the nice folks who sponsor this site. One key is making a sturdy template, to trace the pattern on the rounded stock. The carving is pretty simple; it's the layout that's tedious.
