Default Carving complex symetrical shapes

I've searched... and discovered the DupliCarver which is cool.
But I want to carve a 3d relief to go over a doorway. A symetrical left/right mirror image. Is there a machine similar to the DupliCarver for this?

An inexpensive way to accomplish the task would be to set up a grid over your pattern and use a contour gauge.

I set the gauge on one side of the duck head and then marked high spots on the other side, doing this several times on each grid line transferred the shape to the other side and the guage only cost about $10 at Home Depot.

it all depends on how much you want to spend... i know people that has built their own computer numerical control routers (CNC for short) with a few hundred bucks. at one point i thought of building one, but that would take all the fun out of carving.

cheers
