| | Re: Carving business There is a lady by the name of Kathleen Schuck in Nampa Idaho that wants to sell 'Wood N' Things, Inc'.....I believe I was able to pull up the site on the net and then talked to her about a specific knife and she sent me a catalog...if you can't find it, let me know. |

| | Re: Carving business See someone on the fishcarving list was talking of selling his mail order carving business. Think his email is hidebeak@hidebeak.com and think his site is hidebeak.com
Don't know anything about it other than he is active on the fishcarver list.
Good Luck in your venture

| | Re: Carving business Most likely Great Bend. I live in Topeka right now but would like to return to Great Bend to be closer to friends & family. I just need a plan to make that work.
Thanks for the tips so far-

| | | Re: Carving business Hi Barry, not trying to be cute, but if I could give you a small piece of advice. Start your own business, build on what you know. You make profit, buying, not selling. If the price is right, the quality is good, you will succeed. To buy a business that someone else has made a success of, is risky at best. Their talents in a small business usually are the road to success. Â*If you start small and build as you go the business will develop with your particular gifts. Just some food for thought. !! : |

| | Re: Carving business I live in SEK and about as far south as you can get before becoming an Okie. Little town called Caney on &%. been to and through Topeka many many times and plan on ging to the carving show in Nov. Best to you . Lets us know how it goes and I believe Hugh is correct in starting your own Business.
Hugh, I used the super glue to stregthen the bill as it carved great and detail was just fine. However, I do appreciate you comments as I do have a pile of what I call bad bass wood and have spray it down while carving with alcohol( another of Dave's tips) and it was better managed that way also. Started buying bass wood from Rosseters out of Witchta,Ks. |

| | Re: Carving business Maybe we'll run into each other at the Topeka show. It sounds like it is shaping up to be a good one.
I think starting from scratch makes sense too, but there is also an advantage to being up & running. Of course you pay for that difference so it has to be a balance to be a good deal. I started from scratch and that can cost more than a person thinks too. At this point I'm shopping - if there is a match and a value we'll do it, if not I'll probably pick up ideas for my own along the way.
