| | | Carving bench plans wanted Hi gang,
Some time back before we got hacked someone had posted plans for a carvers bench. As I recall one mounted on a work bench and the other was a carvers bench you sit on with a carving arm and carvers screw. I would appreciate it if you could post it again for the life of me I cannot find it. Thanks in advance.

| | Re: Carving bench plans wanted Hi Colin,
I made myself one of those benches you sit on with the carving arm. I just need to attach the carvers screw somehow. I will take a picture of it and draw up a quick plan for it. I just used a 2x6x10 that I had left over from building my garage and a couple of 2x4s. I'll get you some kind of plan ASAP. I guess I could just post it on picturetrail.
Chris.

| | Re: Carving bench plans wanted Here is one, I have several more, I intend to build one myself... http://www.ilovewood.com/alburnam21.htm#shave
On the whizz, he used a bowling ball and that will hold a huge carving, but I am going to use a trailer ball, would work the same, strong as an ox and much smaller and easier to work with I think...! If you want more sites with carvers horses (carvers bench) let me know. |

I've posted a picture of the bench I made on Picturetrail under 'other stuff'. Let me know if you want some plans for it.

| | Re: Carving bench plans wanted Sounds like a good idea, back to the drawing board.
Have you ever seen The Woodwright Shop. It's on PBS in our area. The host, Roy Underhill uses a bench like that. Everything in his shop is hand (or foot) powered. I love the lathe he uses. If you haven't seen it, you shouldl try to check it out. http://www.pbs.org/wws/
