Default carving ball and claw feet anyone?

Hi everyone,

Have any members here attempted to carve a ball and claw foot for furniture applications? I would like to eventually make a lowboy with claw and ball feet. Before I will try making the piece, I'd like to practice carving the ball and claw details. I would like to get a suitable cast to help guide me too.

Any thoughts?

Jim

Jim, Have you thought of going to a furniture refinisher and seeing if he will let you use the two part mold making stuff to cast a foot? You can fill it with plaster and use it for a study.

Hi Jim, I don't have a pattern, nor do I have a cast for you. but I got these at a swap meet for $1.00 a piece. they are grand. if we lived closer, I would let you use one for a cast. but. if you would like I could take more pictures from different angles. and with a tape measure buy them. don't know if this will help.
