Default "Carved" wood guitar picks

I was inspired by a friend who plays guitar and attended a guitar/luthier show in Montreal this past weekend came away with this URL.
He pointed me toward it as a project I might try.

Sleipner Wood Guitar Picks in Lignum Vitae, Pink Ivory, Ebony, Snakewood, Bocote, etc.

I made a simple prototype out of basswood last night.
When I gave it to my teenage son to wail on his Fender with it was surprisingly tough ! ;-)

I can't vouch for tonal qualities as of yet.
I'm going to make a few from walnut, cherry, ash & mahogany.

Anybody on the board put any effort into this already?

RussL.

Default Re: "Carved" wood guitar picks

Hey Russ -

I am a player for about 30 yrs. I've often thought about doing this for jewelry pendents, but not for actual use. I always figured the wood would not stand up to use against steel strings. Think I'll give it a try now. Thanks for the link. Very interesting.
