Default When I carved that tiny hat,

When I carved that tiny hat,
Remember that Tiny hat ?

The first bloke I carved to wear it was about a half size too small so I carved an identical bloke which I used to make that "Drover scene" so I was left with the smaller version and decided to make some sort of display for him. Built him a back porch to repair and sit on, but all he did was worry about how much work needed to be done to ready the cabin before family came to stay over Christmas. Anyway, his grandaughter heard about his problem and came to visit. No sooner did she arrive than she had made him stop work on the deck and have a cup of tea, she then donned one of Grampy's old shirts and rolled the legs on an old pair of overalls and got started right in to painting .......... Looks like the cabin will be ready in plenty of time.....

I have ordered an acrylic cover to protect the smaller pieces from the ravages of the dreaded feather duster <grin> and
the completed item is to go to my young neice as part of our gift for her 21st.

Nice job Blinky! Now aren't you glad that it's too hot and dry out to work outside?

Thanks for looking at my humble efforts everyone, your thoughts and comments are greatly appreciated.

Charlotte & Jim......thanks for your interest....the roof is of corrugated aluminium AUD$11:00 for a sheet approximately 24''x12" bought from a hobby supply store that supplies material for scale models for railways, dioramas, etc. the sheets come in various scales....take some careful handling as they are only about a half mm thick.

Gene...thanks, it was a fun project for sure. but I need a lot more practice with faces

Doris...many thanks..just wish I had your artistic ability

Eddie...Yes cobber...some good to be found in everything eh? <grin> seriously, don't mind the heat...beats being cold any day....what gets me down is the water shortage, that and living in my own private Gobi desert.
Thanks again

Ooops!
meant to include snaps of the rest of that roofing material so here it is..........maybe I should also point out that everything else in the scene is hand made by me including the tools and flowers.

Probably shouldn't bother, but thought some might be interested to0 know that we finally made it across to my brothers house and presented that little scene to Caitlyn, our niece.I'm very pleased to report that she was thrilled to bits with the carving and asured us that it was among the best gifts that she received..........kinda makes it all worthwhile huh?
