Default :Carved Match:

Id seen in Chip/Chats mag.where a lady carved some 1 1/2 inch matches with mostly animals.

Not haven anything really important to do today, thought Id try to carve one also. Seeing a match is long,a train seemed pretty good to try carving on it. Sorry my picts arient that good! Ive got a larger 35mm camera that will take a picture of a ant on a tree using the bathroom but you have to wait taken your film to get done and back to you,you know Im always in a hurry!

The match was 1 1/2 inches but after carving it ,now its 1 1/4 inches long. I mounted another match under the one I carved making the trains tracks then using other matches made a bridge type of stand for it,course painted with Acrylics. The total size of it now is 1 3/4 inches.

While Im here, or why Ive not been here? Several have PM's me here to ck on me. Been painting alot and had my paintings and carvings at a 9 day art show in the ski mtns of NC{ where the rich folks live} I entered this show along with some picts of my work?

I got a call at my home telling me you will be the featured artist and they made a nice news paper write up on me and my wifes with pictures in two of the newpapers in NC. They provide your table{s} and I have a 8 ft peg board in my booth also. You dont have to be there, they have people that show your work. I went back yesterday to carry more of my art work to my booth. {Been painting like a drunk monkey, meaning using my feet also{getting more art work back in our booth}Course its a 30/70 split on the money...Im the 70%. First time, Id had anyone besides myself to make any money off me!! LOL

Thanks again to thoses whom have contacted me. I'll be back to carving and posting here soon.Right now once this show is over this Sunday,I have 24 of my little Twilight wolves to carve for people.

Thanks for your thoughts and as always your comments are more than welcome.

Oldeeee Tn.......Forrest

Wow! That's pretty good carving, Forrest - did you carve the trucks under the cars, also - the photo looks like there are trucks under each car.

With it in your hand Claude you can see alot better than my poor picts here, its the trains tracks on the bottem match, the train is carved on one and the bridge with the tracks are another match.

Im glad you liked it and thanks for your nice thoughts here!

Wow Forrest,
That makes my little bear waiting for Goldilocks seem gigantic. I guess I really have to carve a tiny one now.
Don't sneeze, or you may lose that whole train.

Great job, Tom

Forrest, you sure have better eyes than I do. Its hard enough for me to see the right end of a match, can't imagine carvin' on one. Great job as usual and happy for you that your carvings are selling so well.

Your old buddy, Dan

Tom,I left both the heads on the matches, hope no one lights them or theres going to be a big train wreck. Ive carved somethings 1/8 of a inch tall before.Theses 1 1/2 inch long matches and{1/16} wide. Its just fun for me to try little things like this plus you dont waste any wood nor does it need alot of painting!!

I appreciate your nice thoughts here! Thks,Forrest

Oh Forrest, Oh my! I Love it. And you will not be stopped now. That's a wonderful exercise in craftsmanship, design, and tool use. I have discovered that it's a whole lot easier to carve the wee stuff, in the direct sun light early in the morning....But I think you could do it any time. Thanks for sharing that one.

Forrest, my dear friend, that is.............UN - BE - LIEV - A - BLE!!!! I have squinted every which way to see the little people sleepin' in the sleeper car, but I just can't see 'em! LOL Somebody mentioned the word craftsmanship, and that's an excellent word for this carving. I know you love mini's, but OMG, this is fantastic. Please enter that in your next competition. I love what you did with the "horses" to set it off! Truly great, my friend! Bonnie
