I have a beautifyl carved mahagony horse, 12' tall, free standing, arabian stallion. does anyone know of a male artist that does these animals? Bought near Williamsburg in the 60's.
Thank you
I bought this sad looking little nag off Ebay for $2.50
It measured about 5 inches tall and 7 inches long.
The carving was rough; with saw marks and spots that hadn't even been carved. The paint looks like it was done by a bunch of crazed monkeys in a windstorm.
But, after inspecting it under magnification; it turned out to be carved (and signed) by Andy Anderson. (The first caricature carver to write a book) and considered by many to be the first real American caricature carver.
Sorry Dave,
That is the best deal I have gotten in a long time. I did pick up a 12' C.O. Trygg hobo for $26.00 on Ebay. They normally sell for $125.00 to $350.00.
For example, I paid over $200.00 for a 12' C.J. Trygg hobo.
