Default carved HoBo Nickel

After reading my summer 2008 WCI magazine,I enjoyed also reading about the man that carves the HoBo Nickels,it was pretty neat. I have several old coins{cpl jars full} and with my tools that are home made plus others, I carved a buffalo nickel thats dated 1930.

Un like Mr. Shamey,I dont have engravers, microscopes, and the other nice tools he uses to carve with ,but I use the old ways of carving guess like the old hobos did with thier crude tools.

This is my attemp at carving a HoBo in a buffalo nickel, which had the Native American bust and a buffalo on the back side. I thought about carving that buffalo into a bear but wouldnt go too good with a HoBo.
I wish my camera could have taken some really close up picts but heres the best picts I could come up with.

The Hobo has a cap on plus a mustache & beard.

Your thoughts or comments are welcome. Tn~

Very, Very NICE! I'm impressed! WOW! Great Job!!!!

The photos are pretty good as well. Our photographer, with all his expensive lighting equipment and lenses still had some trouble photographing the nickels!

Again...Great Job!

Bob

Forrest: All I can say is wow! An incredible first effort for sure!
Don't stop now you will only get better.I'm going to share a link to another site I frequent, That several coin Carvers including mr Shamey frequent as well as some of the best engravers in the world. I'm a little hesitant since it might take you away from this site at times.I am of the opinion that life is a journey where you can learn form all experiences.
you nickel there and you can be sure of encouragment.
