| | Carved Hemlock root~ This hemlock root had a really big crack in the back so I couldnt carve him that deep. Hes a little olde shy druid and has curley locks,course his name is Mr. Curley~Hes 3 x 9 inches I like the nice wood grains you can find in olde wood or roots.

How did you finish the wood? Is hemlock naturally that color? |

ChuckT | Thanks Chuck~ I dont waste any type of wood that I can carve.Theses hard roots are neat once you get them cleaned up and sanded and then ready to carve! Thks again~

I wash them and when dried I sand them off the smoothest I can. Yes the color is the same as you see on the finish carving I posted. I use natural Minwax stain & sealer on it which makes the colors really jump out.

Patrick | Theses roots are really hard wood,they have aged and once dry turn super hard,even harder than the wood in the tree.
I dont have a burner[lighter] since I quit smoking in 97',the stain ran and jumped in the cuts.I did paint his eyes. Thanks Patrick for your questions~ Tn
