Hi all I found some henry tayolr chisels at a local shop they said the thought the handles were birch. I was wanting to know can you use a mallet on these or do you think they are a diffrent type of wood they are store bought handles.

Birch should work fine.If you ever tried to split birch by hand you wouldn't worry about using a mallet on it.
