Hi, Here's a puzzle for you. This was the first time I carved a Duck in flight. I made a awful error. Can you tell by looking at the photo, what I did wrong? It may be kind of hard to see by just viewing the photo, but give it a try anyhow. ChipncutHammer ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I took some new images today. Now you should be able to find my error. I have to apologize to everybody, the poor bird does have feet on this new image. Also I didn't do to good of a job on the right wing, because after my error, it didn't seem important I guess. So see if you can find my error now. Notice the date 1982. I'll never be an expert at carving waterfowl, because I don't repeat an awful lot of carvings. I'm always challenged by doing something different. Chipncut Hi, I added the picture I used for this carving, it's a Golden Eye Duck. Last edited by DICK "chipncut" CAIN; 04-17-2006 at 09:29 AM. Well Dick, what I see is that the prespective is wrong. The body and wings are sort of being viewed from the top, while the head is being viewed from a direct side view. What I can see of the feathers on the upper wing, they should be angled out away from the body. Am I close?

| The right wing is not the same size or shape as the left. Ron

It looks like Nancy's right on the perspective....the top of the wings and shoulder area look like a top view, while the breast looks like it's viewed from a low angle, and the head straight from the side. Still a nice looking piece, if ya ain't LOOKIN' fer errors! Al |

Don't ducks have necks? Good looking work regardless. |

are those eagle wings or bird of pray? still a good carving I would be proud to have carved it. I know nothing about birds except they fly and are hard to carve. Just old Jim

The wing tips should be back instead of forward.
