Default Camp Signs

I have been getting calls to do these camping signs for people... They REALLY like them and I think it will been a good side income... What do you think?

They are about 9" x 18" and made of 1x12 Yellow Pine.

Real nice woodburning. The lettering is spot on,as they say. The part that caught my eye was the bottom sign, lower right side. The trees look awesome and the cross is even better. Real nice work.

Speer,

It is obvious that you are a talented sign writer. The more wood burning you do and even more wood routing, the more that talent will flow.

Well done!

Pete

Thanks...
Although It isn't burning... It is carved and stained dark. I use a dental drill and carving burs to cut it out and texture it. Then I use a walnut stain to give the contrast.

Very nice pieces. It's amazing the effects you get with the burr and dark stain. I know it's probalby out of place to ask and don't say if you don't feel you can but it would be interesting to know the price range of your work?

They're great, but only if your last name is either 'Brooks' or 'Sides'...

All seriousness aside, they're clean, fine pieces, perfect for sale or for gifting.

And if you have ever been to a campground that hosts folks from all four corners, you see more and more of those. Great work and what an opportunity. Hope you display more of your work...

The first one was a request from someone that knew I did carvings... The other (Sides) was a referral from their next camping trip.
I really didn't think much about the first one but after the referral I started thinking about trying to get more of them... For what do I charge >> I haven't been doing this long so I just started out charging by the hour... I do $25 an hour right now but as I get better and faster the rate will go up a bit >> The first one took 3 hours and the second took 5 (mainly because of the text and straight lines) The freehand artwork is a lot of fun and goes fast but trying to carve straight lines with a high speed air carver is pretty tough. You can only go as fast as the bits will allow.
