Here's from a previous discussion: recomendation for digital camera I don't know anything about the two that you have listed. I have a Nikon that works well. It took quite some time to figure out all the bells and whistles.....matter of fact, that time's not up yet! Still can't work that thing completely......... Feb, I just got a Fuji Finepix 5200 for $245.00. It is a digital SLR, does everything and then more. I love it. Chose it after reading review after review, all very good reviews, some rated it above some of the $600-$800 SLR's. Its just 5 mega pixels but has a new technology that makes it come out above the higher mps. 10x zoom. The pic was taken on a dark cloudy day, the squirrel about 50 feet away. Also before I learned much about using the camera.

Feb I agree with Nancy, the Fuji Finepix is the best you can get for the money. My father in law got one for my mother in law. Its 6 megapixle, which basically means better picture quality. I played with it and it did a great job and has a ton of features. Costco and Sams has them for around $200.00. Something I really liked about it was the bigger picture screen on back. I think it would be wise to stay in that price range. I bought a Pentax Optio 3 years ago and paid $600.00 for it. It was a 5 mega pixel, but it still takes clear shots. Back then the were saying 3 megapixel and higher were the best resolutions you could get. Mel |

I also have Fujis - an A303 and E550. Both are easy to use and good photos (when I don't mess up and flinch...) and are easy to download, especially if you have a Mac - no additional software driver installation needed. Claude |

feb, i had been using really cheep digitalis and web cams to take pictures of my carvings the pics always were fuzzy discolored and really useless for showing detail, must have used 10 different cameras with no good results lots of research should go into finding a camera with the features you need, I searched for price and anything above 3mp. average prices were running from 89.00 to 799.00 for high end 10x optic 10 digital 8mp finely thinking the purchase couldn't be decided by price alone i started checking features, finding any of the Kodak "c" digital cameras would fill my needs for making pics of my carvings, and some grand children pictures.. when i decided on the Kodak line it was right after Christmas, and supply in stores was short, but walmart had the Kodak c653 reduced in price, to 129.00, i bought it knowing of the 7 day in store return policy, and expected to bring it back when other camera stock was more plentiful, but getting to use it was easier than i thought and im really getting to like it, im an old 35mm film photographer, i knew that type of photography, but nothing i knew could be used on most digitalis, but this 653 is set up where you can defeat the automatic features and use it manual, adjust speed, existing light settings, and a local to keep your settings where you lock them when you get them set so you can use it as a copy stand for patterns etc.. i dont use it professionally so the 6mp feature is def eatable and adjustable i use mine at 3mp or less the picture file size is reduced greatly without all that much picture degradatation noticeable, like the 50 dollar cameras. i just suggest you do some homework.. after i got my camera, i noticed on the Kodak website they have a trade up deal where folks can send in there camera and trade up to the better versions, well the cameras Kodak receives on these deals are factory reconditioned and sold as reconditioned elsewhere on the web site with the full guarantee, if you dont mind slightly worn camera, take a look, there mostly half price of when they were new...
