As of 6.30pm tonight our news reported 1780 homes have been lost and 7,000 people homeless due to the Victorian (Australia) fire storm. Whilst day to day items are been taken care of by the many volunteer organisations the items lost by many to help rebuild their lives such as tools and probably more importantly for those who love their woodwork, woodworking tools. I know when I'm carving everything else around me doesn't exist and time just flies. Our fire storm affected 'woodies' might just benefit from taking some time out and make some saw dust. Of course this is apart from the need to have tools to rebuild. I am putting out a call for all woodworkers of all disciplines to have a look in their sheds and have a bit of a clean out of unwanted or extra tools. All tools collected will be offered personally to individuals who are known through woodworking networks in the fire affected areas. Types of items needed: General woodworking tools Hand and Power carving Chainsaw carving Chip carving Lathe work Wood for carving, blanks Wood burning etc etc. General items: Garden tools Hammers, saws, tape measures, rules, string line. Nails, Screws, Glue, Sandpaper Woodworking magazines, books, plans. Ken the boys and I will kick this tool drive off by donating a Wood lathe 4' bed. Please contact me via email ggamble@harboursat.com.au or private message for delivery or pick up details. Also the need for fishing tackle and gear has been mentioned so if you come across any spare fishing gear I just know there will be some very happy anglers. Many many thanks Gabby Last edited by GabbyG; 02-13-2009 at 06:17 AM. Reason: not finished hit wrong button |
