Default A Call for Opinion

If you could take a week long class from any carver, who would you choose?

Thanks for your help everybody.
Happy Carving!

Jim

For me it would be Mark Akers. His facial features are top notch,if you learn his style I believe you could bring that to any carving you are doing!!

Actually, I'm scheduled to do just that in September of this year.
I'm going to take from Else Bigton and Phillip Odden at Norsk Wood Works -- Norwegian Wood Carvers and Carving Woods in Wisconsin. I am really looking forward to it.
The weekend is going to be a workshop from Harley Refsal as well!

Ian Norbury and if he was still alive the great John Rood. This is an excellent post I will enjoy reading what our other members have to say.

Wow... so many... Tom Wolfe, Rick Jensen, Allen Goodman, Pete Leclair, the Bishops, Mark Akers, Wayne Shinlever, the list could go on and on and on... would be hard to pick just one.

Ditto, this would be an exhaustive list. Good call on Chris Pye. Ian Norbury, perhaps? But, if I had to choose _one_ carver to take a week-long lesson from, it would be Robert Davidson, the Michaelangelo of PNW Native carving.

If I were to pick just one I think it would be Donald K Mertz. I have been a fan of his woodbee carving forum and think if I could learn from him I could really do the caricatures that I enjoy doing so much
