Default Bust of Cochise

I thought I'd share some pix of a bust I carved of the great Chiricahua Apache Chief Cochise. It is 14" X 8" and carved of catalpa wood. I probably should have carved him from hickory because Cochise means hickory wood (I think). However, I did not have any hickory but had plenty of catalpa so what can I say..............

It looks quite good, Wolf. Where did you get the pattern?

Phil, I took a picture of a bust of Cochise at the Museum of Famous Indians in Anadarko, OK. Here is a pic of the bust with the pattern.....

Actually, I took four shots covering all sides. This, of course, is just the frontal shot..........

Very nice bust. Quite a few Native carvings on this site lately. The bead work on yours turned out really well. Definitely has a native look to his features.

Wow, that's impressive! That catalpa wood has a beautiful grain to it, too.

If you put the federal government in charge of the Sahara Desert , in five years there'd be a shortage of sand.
