Default Bull Elk relief carved in knot

This knot was a hard wood, sure wasnt a light wood like pine, etc. I didnt want to carve it length wise but the knot wouldnt sit up?? I attached a small cherry chip{I save chips} a small block under the bottem and found it would sit up vertical upright.

Its 4 1/2 inches X 7 1/2 inches I dont know what type of knot{wood} this was,but after sanding and preparing it to be carved, some neat grains started to show,Im sure when I apply a finish over it all,the grains will be more prominent. There was a crack in the knot, between his legs, thats why too I carved a elk{long legged} where I could space him over the crack. The 1st pict is the back of the knot.

Your comments are more than welcome. Thks' Tn

Great job on the knot Tn, I sure like the way you just take any old piece of wood and make something special from it. Really like the paint too...Bruce

Thumbs up Re: Bull Elk relief carved in knot

From nothing special to something beautiful .. Your trademark Forrest ..

Once again .. another special piece .. The scene is wonderful Forrest ..

Your colors are your trademark and even though your carving is so good .. It's the painting that just catches the eye .......

Beautiful job Forrest .. as always ..

Gene
