Hi, I got the Buffalo finished. I didn't get as agressive with the hair as I hoped to. I tried some of the ideas you people gave me on a practice piece. Some I incorperated into the carving, I got a little intimidated with the others. I'll keep working on the techniques you were nice enough to share. Thank You all!!! Here's a link to the pictures .http://www.picturetrail.com/gergie

Thanks for all your kind words. Macktruck you were right on, it is Butternut, a great wood to carve. I've went to Picturetrail and viewed the carvings there. From the pictures I've seen you people have a lot to be proud of. I like it when people put a link to there photos with there posts. Thanks Again, Gergie....

Gergie, Fantastic buffalo! You did an excellent job with your first buffalo and I love the contrast. Beautiful use of butternut. Isn't it awesome to have beautiful success with your first attempt with a critter. Keep on carving Thanks for sharing your results. : :![]() Donna T
