Default Buckeye trees

Just wondering... I have a large stand of buckeye trees I was planning on clearing. Is there any market for the trees?
THanks

I don't think that there is a huge demand for buckeye, but let me know if ya find any burls in the trees I am willing to pay or trade for nice ones if ya don't live to far away. Let me know where ya are located at, if it's close I could help ya clear em.

Try this:

buckeye, Woodturning, Lumber items on eBay.com

if that link doesn't work, it is a search on eBay for buckeye under woodworking. It does seem to be the burls or spalted buckeye people want.

I don't think there would be any demand from a commercial source for buckeye, but it's a wonderful carving wood. It's hard to find here in the Kansas City area. If you cut some you want to keep for carving, remove the bark right away. It seems to have a high water content and will mildew under the bark very quickly. If the sap is down in cold weather your probably ok waiting a while, but in the summer when the sap is up, it will start to turn the wood black in just a couple of days. If you find a young one the right size for a walking stick but it's to crooked, you can staighten it out if you do it when you cut it. I guess it's because of the high water content but you can bend very easily at the time you cut them. The bark is pretty and what few buckeye sticks I been able to get are very good sellers at shows I have done.

Thanks for the info. THere is several burls on the trees. I cut one down the other day but didn't cut into the burl. I will photo some of the trees and try to post them here. I also noticed several of the walnut trees in the same area have burls. I'll try and get some pics of them too.

O I am drooling now, try and get some pics of the burls please, I do love walnut burl but would not cut down a healthy walnut tree unless it was a hazerd.
