| Hello I am a fairly new carver, and I need HELP. What should I do about bubbles on my carving after clear coating? Also why did this happen? |

What type of clear coating? On paint, bare wood, or some other pre-treatment?

Bare cottonwood bark carving I used valspar clear flat spray.

What type of wood? What did you use to finish? Did you use a sealer? Did you use a brush or a foam applicator? If you give us a bit more information, we might be able to help. Claude |

Dampness, heating the clear coat while its drying. Moisture in the wood, spraying too much clear coat on at one time. Sand it with 220 grit, wait a bit and give it another coat.

After you stir polly and other finishes they need to sit for a bit before you apply, other wise you get bubbles. That's what floor refinishers do. Not sure if that's what caused your bubbles ?? Dave |
